Disney Dining Plans may be subject to change for arrivals from January 2021. A Disney Dining Plan must be selected for all members of the party travelling aged 3 and over (at time of visit). Children aged 3-9 (at time of visit) must order from children's menu where available. An additional form of payment is required if gratuities are added and a credit card as not been provided at check-in for charging incidentals and other expenses. Participating restaurants are subject to change.

I am considering taking a group of 10 to DW this year staying at one of the Disney hotels early this fall. For budgeting, I need to determine cost for food for the 5 adults and 5 children. Can I expect a meal plan to be available by late spring of this year so I can select one of the plans?

Just starting out? Check out our Walt Disney World planning guide! If you're still picking dates, we've got everything you need to know about Disney World crowd calendars. For picking your hotel, check out our Walt Disney World hotels guide.

The Disney Dining Plan is a pre-purchased plan that can be added to a Disney Vacation Package. You have to be staying at a Disney-owned-and-operated hotel and have tickets to the parks in order to qualify for the plan.

When it does come back, there are some things you may have forgotten about. For example, at the end of February 2020, Disney announced a new dining plan option for guests: the Disney Dining Plan Plus. This option is easy to forget about as it was announced almost right before the closures!

So, when Disney put the plan on pause, the plans available were the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan, Disney Standard Dining Plan, the Disney Dining Plan Plus, and the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. All of these offered different options in terms of flexibility and which kinds of restaurants you could visit on your trip.

I know from going to Disney World for years that $78.00 each day for adults in the standard plan does not buy squat. Meals at Disney for a sit down meal (three course) will set you back $100.00 or more. One meal. This is reality.

My family and I are planning a trip in February of 2023. I am really hoping the DDP will come back well before then. I know there are arguments on both sides of the DDP, but with budgeting out $$ for this year, I would rather pay ahead of time and know there will be meals available when I get there.

Loved the DDP ! We did the standard plan and the deluxe plan. The standard plan was great and we added up what we bought plus the sofa cup it was worth it. The deluxe plan was too much food lol. I just hope they bring back Tables in Wonderland.

My daughter is planning a family vacation in August 2022 for 15 people. Reservations are made, flights booked. Some of us are coming for a week, others for almost twoShe has been many times before and taken advantage of the dining plan. Please tell us it will be back soon.We have family members new to Disney and I fear the extra food cost will prohibit them from ever considering a return trip.Thank you for your attention.

I have been going to Disneyworld for 35 years and going again in May 2022 with my grandchildren. I would love to have the dining plan so I would have one less thing to worry about. I have to agree I think the Magical Feeling is slipping away with all the changes.

Just to let you all know, when I was at WDW in January 21, I talked to a few of the people who work in the Disney parks and they said it would be another 5 years before we see the dining plan come back.

Frequent users of the Disney Dining Plan become pretty adept at getting more bang for their buck, as they know these strategies are the difference between saving hundreds of dollars with the Disney Dining Plan and losing hundreds of dollars with it. With these posts, quick menu review, and some advance planning, first-time visitors to Walt Disney World can also make the most of the Dining Plan!

Hello Tom!I was just on the disney page to book a short trip to try out genie + before our big family trip in 2023.I cant seem to share this screen shot with this page, but the link for a dining plan came up. It is clickable, so I clicked it. It said, Would you like to add the dining plan? I said, Yes!Not sure what happened, as it was on the final page and then it went to pay. It did not increase my final cost, but it was still there!I will keep you posted.Hope this is a good sign!!!

If you have kids and get the Deluxe or regular you will save money if you eat character meals. One Character meal costs most of what you pay for the kids dining plan. Sometimes it costs more. The rest of the credits are just free food. WE saved tons of money buying the Deluxe plan when we had 2-3 kids. Their savings made up for any losses on the adults by a lot.

This occurred twice last year, and if precedent is any indication, another round of increases will occur in the first half of 2023. The latest wave of price increases were more comprehensive and sweeping, with everything from snacks (again) to character dining experiences going up in price. This latter one is particularly significant, because character meals are particularly popular with guests who typically purchase the Disney Dining Plan.

One potential industry-wide explanation is trepidation among restaurants about their ability to pass on higher prices to consumers without seeing a corresponding drop in demand. Those same concerns likely exist with the Disney Dining Plan. Even in the last few years pre-closure, the rate of its price increases had slowed significantly. Menu item increases had outpaced Disney Dining Plan price increases pre-closure, making the DDP a better value in early 2020 than it was in 2017.

More likely, it means that the company will wait for both a material slowdown in per guest spending that needs to be boosted (and in fact, the dining card promo accomplishes exactly this, as it requires booking a non-discounted hotel room) and to see whether the the dining card places an added burden on Cast Members or stresses the system and reduces overall capacity. All of that could be accomplished by late in the summer, paving the way for the Disney Dining Plan to return once school goes back into session in late August through mid-September 2023.

Recently book our March trip to Disney hoping that the DDP would be active by this point but it was not. Understanding all the staffing issues and profit margin stats does not interest the everyday Disney Supporter. What it comes down to is getting a bundle for a far price . What is considered far? Well , once again break some options down to choose from.In place of a Disney jumping right back in with a full DDP then offer a break down , example: Get a dining card for $250 that Disney matchs with $50 on it and a Free Drink cup. : Or you have on your Disney credit or food credit 10% of your pack price ( $2000 package would give you $200 in food credits ) you would scan your band at the registers until all your food credits were used up and a free drink cup.Disney could add food credits to your package as a bonus then you could purchase more if you wish. Those not used at the end of your trip could be credited back to you .This would not be hard to make happen . It would give the Disney Guest a little bonus toward food credit on the wrist band. It would allow you to pre-pay on the food credit account. So when you went to eat scan you wrist band as you would with DDP and it takes that amount of your total not in items but in dollar amount. If you want to add to it at the hotel you could . If you did not use it all at the end of you trip you would get a statement credit on your credit card. Very simple. A little help from Disney on Food and a Pre Paid Plan you can add to before hitting the Parks. Do this until the DDP comes back or establish it as the new norm.ThanksDr. Phillip N Jones (d.d.hon)

@Buzz. I agree totally! Our last trip this sept was our first without the DP. We usually went to Disney yearly pre covid . I liked no dining plan as we ate what we wanted and where we wanted without being forced to always overeat to get our moneys worth. We spend a lot of time at our resorts so this time went with club level. We found it to be extremely worth it. We dined out as well , but overall found this much more satisfying.
